1. Purchase pyramids or studs at a local fabric store. We chose a 1in size pyramid! |
2. After deciding on your design, place the pyramid onto the shoe, pressing it firmly through. (Takes a little strength!) |
3. Press firmly until the prongs poke through the inside of the shoe. |
4. Use a large coin to press the prongs down so they don't poke you! |
5. Make sure all prongs are pressed down & give the pyramid a snug to ensure its attachment. Continue with every pyramid until your desired pattern is reached. |
6. RESULT! (Great looking shoes!) |
Hello everyone! I hope you have had a great week so far! Its time for a little do-it-yourself project for the weekend! So, I am a super crafty gal, & love DIY's...would sew all my own clothes if I honestly had the time to! But, I have been wanting a pair of studded tennies! Yes, they are all over the internet nowadays...from Jeffrey Campbell to Prada, but an old-school pair of Converse in my opinion is the best!
This project is simple & does not require more than a few hours tops. A friend and myself hit up the mall to choose our Chucks, which was probably honestly the hardest part! There are so many colors to choose from! Lace-up Vans are also a very cute option-we just could not find them in a color we loved. Then, we went to a local speciality fabric store for the gold pyramids. These were honestly a little difficult to find, so call around first! For some reason stores I assumed would carry them & go to for most of my craft needs, like Michael's Arts & Crafts & Jo-Anns' Fabrics, unfortunately did not! Then, head home & all you will need is a strong thumb & a large coin (quarter works best) for pressing the prongs on the back of the pyramid through the shoe. I suggest first laying out a desired pattern onto the shoe without pressing them through. When you have reached your desired pattern, then press the prongs through & voila! You now have a very trendy new shoe!
I plan on wearing mine Monday on my birthday for bicycling around Key West.
