There is something magical about a city when the sun goes down.  This, for me, holds especially true when its a very old city in Europe.  The twinkling lights that line the brick roads make everything appear to come alive in the dark.
This is the beautiful Polish city Kraków.  Seen in majority of the photos is the Rynek Główny, or Main Market Square, of the Stare Miasto.  Did you know that Kraków's Square was the largest of any European medieval city?  Well, now you know.  For those who visited my last photo diary, you may recognize the Sukiennice, this time brilliantly lit up among the night sky.  Another familiar landmark is the famous 14th century brick gothic church, or kościół, St. Mary's Basilica. (Photos #6, 7, & 11.)
On this chilly evening, the Polish man & I ventured away from the Rynek Główny & found ourselves wandering through the romantic streets with delicious grzane wino to keep us warm.  An adventure is totally my kind of date night!  Staying within the Stare Miasto, we came across the largest Roman Catholic historic church in Kraków:  Kościół Świętych Apostołów Piotra i Pawła (Church of Saints Peter & Paul).  The Baroque architecture out front was simply breath-taking! (Photos #15, 16 & 17.)
As we continued our evening stroll, we made our way to the Kazmierz district. (Photos #19 & 20.) This district is known for the significantly large Jewish community that inhabited the area from the 14th century until they were forcibly removed during World War II.
Making our way back to the Rynek Główny, where our apartment was located, we stopped in a local pub that was hosting karaoke.  Karaoke is always entertaining, but when its in a language other than your own & there are vagabonds reaching the notes of Pavarotti, it simply cannot get much better.
